Obituary: Rieth, Gwendolyn E. “Gwen”
Gwen married Robert Rieth on October 27, 1938 in Sandpoint, Idaho when Robert was working there for a short while before returning to Harrington to farm.
Gwen passed away March 9, 2013 in Spokane, WA, her home Harrington, WA.
She is survived by their five children Roberta Maras, Ronald (and Calesta) Rieth, Roger Rieth, Renea (and Kevin) Larmer and Rod (and Lori) Rieth, two sisters Marietta (and Clyde) Innes and Virginia (and Duane) Erickson, along with nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert (2013), brothers Vernon Jahn and Lawrence Jahn.
She enjoyed being part of the Sprague and Harrington Bridge Clubs, Women’s Club, and the Altar Society at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was always a community oriented worker helping where the need be.
Gwen enjoyed woodworking, crocheting afghans for all her family, and cooking.
She spent many years on the farm cooking and baking for the farmhands.
Her family especially remembers the “dough gobs” formed from her homemade bread dough and cooked in the deep fat fryer during the harvest feasts.
After retiring, Gwen drove school bus for the Harrington School District for a few years and loved working in her yard.
Her family was her life.
