Military tuition aid cut

Why has The Spokesman-Review not brought to our attention any article about the suspension of Federal Tuition Assistance to our service men and women? The program that helped over 200,000 soldiers go to school and earn their degree has been halted due to the sequester, and this is not considered newsworthy?

Being in the Army, I have come to rely on FTA for college, as have thousands of other service members, and could not pay for classes without it. I do understand FTA is not a right to service members, but a privilege. But the Department of Defense could have found something else to trim before considering suspending one of the most popular programs in the military.
