Cougars, Eagles will play again in 2016
College football: It took more than 100 years for Eastern Washington to earn a rematch with Washington State in 2012. This time, it will take a mere four years.
The Eagles and Cougars have announced a meeting on Sept. 3, 2016 at Martin Stadium in Pullman.
The Cougars edged the Eagles 24-20 on Sept. 8, 2012, in the first varsity meeting between the schools since 1908.
Starting with a 30-27 loss at Washington to open the 2011 season, the WSU game will mark the sixth-straight year the Eagles will play an opponent from the Pac-12 Conference. Eastern will play at Washington in 2014 and Oregon in 2015 prior to meeting the Cougars again in 2016.
The Eagles open the upcoming season Aug. 31 at Oregon State.
