Chuck Barney Mcclatchy-Tribune

Don’t miss

“DOWNTON ABBEY”: Do we hear wedding bells? As the deliciously addictive period melodrama returns for a third season, formerly star-crossed lovers Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Matthew (Dan Stevens) are finally preparing to get hitched, and Cora’s mother (Shirley MacLaine) arrives from the U.S. for the big day. But not all is bliss: Robert (Hugh Bonneville) gets some bad news about an investment. Sunday, 8 p.m. KSPS, 9 p.m. KCDT.

Other bets

TUESDAY: Break out the wine. “Cougar Town” is back, but now, Courteney Cox and her happy-drinking cul-de-sac crew are doing their thing on basic cable. 10 p.m., TBS.

TUESDAY: No, your DVR isn’t lying to you. Starting tonight, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs before “Nightline,” in a time slot that allows Kimmel to go toe-to-toe with Leno and Letterman. 11:35 p.m., ABC.

WEDNESDAY: No surprise here: Fan favorite Justin Bieber has five nominations in the “People’s Choice Awards 2013.” If that bugs you, take it up with the people. 9 p.m., CBS.

THURSDAY: Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman star as the frazzled president and first lady in “1600 Penn.” Following its December sneak peek, the Beltway sitcom makes its official debut. 9:31 p.m., NBC.
