Library fees, not taxes
We are now presented with the option of voting for or against additional property taxes to fund library operations.
As a citizen, I have no issue with paying to support the library system. However, as a library user, I am opposed to everyone having to pay yet more. Not everyone is a library user. I believe that library users, like myself, should be open to the idea of paying use fees when visiting the library. A small fee for each book or other publication, CD or DVD checked out, as well as increased late fees would seem to be more appropriate than taxing everybody.
I urge voters to oppose this property tax increase and let our city leaders know that there are alternatives to be explored.
