St. Mary’s holds pajama drive for Christmas Fund

Students at St. Mary’s Catholic School, 14601 E. Fourth Ave., held a pajama drive to benefit the Christmas Bureau.

Advancement Director Terri Matsch said the student council organized the drive, which had a goal of collecting one pair of pajamas for every student enrolled at the school. They came very close. They collected 258 pajama sets, there are 261 students at the school.

The student council requested children’s pajamas to be collected, “something that they would wear,” Matsch said.

This is the second year the students have held the drive. In the past, the students collected items to send to troops overseas. The students also hold collections when disasters strike, such as the tornadoes in Oklahoma City or Hurricane Sandy.

“It’s been very successful for us,” Matsch said.

The pajama drive began Dec. 2 and the students dropped them off at the Christmas Bureau on Dec. 13.
