Obituary: Guffin, Leslie Lloyd “Les”
Les was born at home in Spokane on August 26, 1936 to Lloyd and Clara Guffin.
He attended Sheridan Elementary and Libby Junior High and graduated from Rogers High School in 1954.
In his youth, he spent many summers at Lutherhaven Summer Camp, played basket- ball at Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Silver Spurs.
Les served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, from 1954 - 1956.
Later he received an associate’s degree from Spokane Community College.
He worked for the Great Northern/ Burlington Northern Railroad Company for over twenty years.
Afterwards he utilized his small engine repair training and operated his own auto repair business.
He then went to work with his good friend Ron Nice at N & N Blasting until retirement.
Les was an avid fisherman; he and his family would spend many summers deep sea fishing off the coast of Sekiu, WA in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
He also loved to spend his free time working in his vegetable garden and in carefully tending to his roses.
Les is survived by his sons David (Lisa) and Daniel; daughters Diane and Debra; granddaughter Richelle King (Weston); grandsons Brenden (Emily), Cameron, Sean, Justin, and Nathan; his sister Karen Cronin (Frank); his brother Leonard (Marion), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 12:30 at the Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99205.
