Six Honda cars stolen in Spokane Valley Tuesday

Car thieves made off with five Honda Accords and one Integra in Spokane Valley yesterday, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. An attempted theft of a Honda Civic also was reported. Hondas are favored by car thieves because they’re easy to steal and easy to tear up to sell parts, according to the website insure.com. Three of the cars were stolen from the Spokane Valley Mall parking lot; one was stolen from the Costco parking lot at 5601 E. Sprague Ave.; one was taken near the 8100 block of East Appleway Avenue; and the sixth was taken from the area of 1900 S. St. Charles Road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The attempted theft took place in the Home Depot parking lot at 5617 E. Sprague. Besides the Honda thefts, vehicle prowlings are up dramatically, the news release said. The Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to take valuables out of their cars and lock them. Crime Stoppers are offering a reward for information regarding the thefts.
