Richard E.
Richard was born in 1940 to Ethel and Fred Matheny who he joined in Heaven on September 6, 2012.
He attended John R. Rogers High School and was awarded a place in Roger’s Hall of Fame.
He graduated from WSU in 1962 with further education at USC.
Richard married Phyllis Ann Cheever in 1961.
They have two children, Richelle Harget (Matt) of Spokane and Dwight Matheny of Carnation, WA.
His first job was with American Right Away Association in California.
He returned to Spokane as Vice President of Development at Whitworth College.
He was vice Chancellor of Development for UC at Irvine and retired from UC Davis.
Most of their retirement years were in Port Ludlow, WA.
They currently live in Skyline Retirement Center in Seattle.
His faith sustained him as Parkinson’s disease and scoliosis greatly attacked his body.
Rich loved to FISH.
He was in his element with pole in hand.
He would have fished in a bucket if convinced there were fish in it.
Survived by his wife and children, sister Donna L. Deeble (Ed) Spokane, There are five grandchildren.
Services will be at Seattle First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15th.
