Floyd fights for students

I have spent five years as an undergraduate student at Washington State University, and have experienced the consistent tuition increases our university faces. As a Rogers High School graduate from Spokane, a college education was something that I had to work toward, and financial obligations have always made it difficult for me and my peers to stay in school.

As the student body president of WSU-Pullman, I am so honored to have a university president with the determination and passion that WSU President Elson Floyd exemplifies. Like Shawn Vestal stated, it is overdue to take a profound stand on tuition increases for higher education in our state, and students like me support Floyd in his efforts.

My little sister will be going to college in a few years, and I am hopeful that leaders like Floyd will build a better foundation for future students in our state universities and colleges. We do not have a good university president at WSU; we have a great president that fights for his students.
