Adoption instead of abortion

Forty-two million. That is the number of abortions that take place each year around the world, 1.37 million of them are in the United States alone (according to the Center of the Bio-Ethical Reform)! That’s a pretty scary number.

Here’s another number to look at: 950,000. That’s the number of couples per year who want to adopt a baby but can’t because only 50,000 babies are put up for adoption each year. This means that there would have been a family for every baby that was aborted each year. I understand that women get pregnant unexpectedly. But they shouldn’t punish the baby for a risk they chose to take. It’s not our job to decide someone’s (the baby’s) fate. Our job is to take responsibility for our actions. Most people would blame the high abortion rate on teen pregnancy. What they don’t know is, only 20 percent of abortions are from teens! Just think about all those couples who can’t have children.

They want to start a family and the only place they can turn is adoption. So, why abortion when lives can be saved and families can be made?
