Out & About: Replica celebrates milestone tiger musky
OUTSIZED – A standing offer to replicate the first 50-inch tiger musky caught and released in a Washington tiger musky tournament was honored last week.
In September, Chris Gades of St. Maries caught a 50-incher in Muskies Inc. tourney at Curlew Lake. According to Muskies Inc., it was the biggest tiger musky recorded in North America in 2011.
Although Gades released the fish, Lax Reproductions of Conover, Wis., honored the milestone fish with a replica made from photos and measurements.
Tiger muskies, a sterile cross between a northern pike and a muskellunge, are stocked in seven Washington lakes.
Silver Lake tourney: The 11 anglers in the Silver Lake Mountain Muskies tournament last weekend caught two tigers, both about 34 inches long.
