Fredric Charles “Fred” Wallick, 72, a 48 year Cashmere resident, passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012, following a sudden illness.
He was born on August 29, 1939 at Spokane, Washington to the late Fredric Henry and Mildred (Farrell) Wallick.
He was raised attended schools in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School in 1957.
Following high school, he entered the U.S. Coast Guard and after his active duty term he remained a reservist for several years.
He continued his education at Eastern Washington State College in Cheney and graduated with a B. S. degree in Education in December of 1963.
He was married to Janice Rae Sedlacek in Spokane on August 22, 1964.
They made their first home together in Cashmere.
He went to work for the Cashmere School District at the High School where he taught Art, Psychology and Sociology.
He retired in 1994, after teaching at Cashmere High School for 30 years.
He went to work as a Cabinet Salesman for Bruehl’s Construction for a brief time before going to work at Clifford’s Hardware Store in Cashmere.
He retired completely three years ago.
Fred was a longtime member, Past President and the active Secretary of the Cashmere Lions Club.
He was a member of the W.E.A., Washington Education Association and the W.S.S.R.A., Washington State School Retirees Association.
He especially loved life, baseball and baseball memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Janice R. Wallick, Cashmere; two daughters, Amy Meredith, Spokane and Marcy (Brandon) Evenson, Soap Lake, and six grandchildren, Bailey and Brevin Evenson both of Bridgeport, Jordan and Caleb Meredith both of Spokane and Molly and Landon Evenson both of Soap lake, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lee Wallick and one sister Janice Rule.
A Commemoration Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cashmere High School with the Rev.
Fr.
Richard Sedlacek officiating.
The interment will take place in the Cashmere Cemetery 11:00 am prior to the Commemoration.
