Mary Deming Morrill Spens passed away on April 21st 2012 at the age of 92.

She was born on June 15, 1919 to George Crawford Morrill and Doris Bronson Morrill in Seattle, Washington.

She married Gordon Spens from Chicago, Illinois on June 20th, 1945.

They later divorced, but remained life long friends.

Mary is survived by her sister Mar Scott of Harrisburg PA. and three sons and their respective wives: Crawford and Lyn Spens of Longview, WA.

; Conrad and Sue Anne Spens of Preston, WA.

and Christian and Holly Spens of Bellingham, WA.

She had six grand children and one great grand child.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She was a “Cradle Episcopalian” who was baptized, confirmed and married at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Seattle, WA.

She latter attended St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral and St. Stephens in Spokane, WA.

When she returned to the Seattle area in 1967 she attended St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Bellevue until her death.

She graduated from Smith College with a BA in 1940.

Latter she returned to graduate school and received a Master’s degree from Seattle University in 1977.

She was always concerned for others.

From the Girls Friendly Society on through Girl Scouts, Orthopedic Hospital and various church guilds, both the Seattle and Spokane Junior Leagues, PTA, American Cancer Society, Family and Child Services and the Washington State Dept.

of Social & Health Services and other human service efforts.

Please remember her as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and a friend to many, a real caring person.

She would like that!!

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on June 29, 2012 at 2:00PM at St. Margret’s Episcopal church in Bellevue, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either St. Margaret’s Memorial Fund or to Children’s Hospital Foundation in Seattle.
