Obituary: Francis, Barbara M.
Age 87
FRANCIS,
Barbara M.
Mom passed away surrounded by her family on July 9, 2012 following an extended battle with cancer.
She was born into a military family on December 4, 1924 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; on October 18, 1947 married our Dad and continued living a military life.
Mom worked at every base where he was assigned and they raised three “army brats”.
In 1959 they settled in Spokane.
Mom worked at Boeing in Seattle, and here at KHQ-TV, Sears and the Woman’s Corner, where she learned computer technology.
After retirement, her true passion and talent emerged: writing novels.
She was a published author of seven novels.
Mom managed to make writing a family affair, involving all of us in plot lines, editing, typing and endless rewriting and disagreements over characters.
She loved playing cards, board games, doing jigsaw puzzles and going to the casino.
But most will remember her love of conversation as her best attribute; one would stop by the house for a cup of coffee and not leave for several hours.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Frances.
She is survived by her three children all of Spokane, David Francis, Kathy Francis, Joy (Terry) Munro and their daughter Maureen Clark, and, of course, Susie and Mollie, who kept a constant vigil on her bed for the last year.
St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1104 W. Heroy, will hold a Mass on July 24 at 11 a.m.
There will be a future, private, graveyard service.
Your memory is our keepsake with which we’ll never part,
God has you in His keeping, we have you in our heart.
