Uncertainty killing businesses
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers hosted a panel discussion on Capitol Hill that focused on the economy and job creation. All of the panelists were chief executive officers. All were women. In their opening remarks, one word was mentioned by every one: uncertainty.
Another word that went hand-in-hand with the uncertainty that America’s job creators were facing: “regulations.” Business leaders at the meeting said tax burdens, duplicative government rules, an unskilled workforce and congressional deadlock of the deficit was hurting job creation and the economy.
The panel covered an array of topics, but centered on a general theme of frustration with the regulatory burdens the government had placed on their businesses.
Dr. Allison Brown, CEO and founder of NAVSYS, said “The worst-case scenario for businesses in developing their own strategic plans for growth is the ‘no plan’ condition that currently exists due to the congressional deadlock and the inability of the super committee to come up with any resolutions.”
