Shelve the tax pledge

The tax pledge of Grover Norquist, lobbyist for the wealthy elite, must go in an attempt to restore sanity to the floors of the House and Senate.

The Senate overwhelmingly passed a two-month extension on payroll tax cuts, unemployment benefits and Medicare payments to doctors. Back to the House, where Republican tea party members are having you believe they want to extend these benefits for a year. Don’t be fooled, they are attempting to shelve this issue in an attempt to increase taxes on 160 million Americans.

Norquist has made it clear this tax issue would not be in violation of “The Pledge.” Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated that the No. 1 priority is to get rid of Obama. This they are attempting to do at the expense of this country’s well-being. They will do anything conceivable to ensure he does not succeed.

I am an independent thinker and voter, pledging no allegiance to either party until now. Norquist’s tax pledge does not apply to all Americans. Until it is forever shelved, my vote will no longer support any Republican at the local, state or federal level.
