Obituary: Dearborn, Verla Lillian (Boyer)

Adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Verla Lillian Boyer Dearborn died Monday, February 13, 2012 in Spokane, Washington.
She was born on October 20, 1918 in Potlatch, Id to Alva and Agnes Boyer.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Adams, Doris Castle, Betty McClelland and half- sisters (Taylor) Sadie Atkinson, Olive Wilks, Laura Webb, Ruth Kimberly and granddaughter Zorre Dearborn.
She lived in Pullman, moved to Spokane, attended Willard Elementary School, and graduated with honors from North Central High School.
She was involved in French Club, ten of Elsa Pinkam’s Operettas (lead roll Doll Shop four years) Dasidrian Talent Club and class secretary.
She went to work for the head of the Crescent Department store.
She married her high school sweetheart, Wright Dearborn (who preceded her in death, 1979) on August 25th, 1940 in Tacoma, Washington.
They had two children, Mark Dearborn (Linda) Spokane and Faris Charbonneau (Ed) Spokane.
She adored her four grand-children, Colin Charbonneau (Amy) Spokane, Trevor Charbonneau (Jamie) Denver, CO. Satcha Graham (Kevin) Seattle, four great-grandchildren, Lucas and Gianna Charbonneau, Parker Charbonneau, Zia Graham, numerous nieces and nephews.
Since 1952, Verla was active in Audubon Park Methodist Church, member of Fidelia Circle, sang in the church choir.
She liked to swim, canoe, hike at Newman Lake, Honeymoon Bay Resort where she spent her summers.
She played golf, bridge, cribbage, and loved to read.
She was a past president of the North Spokane Rotaryanns, Spokane Country Women’s Golf Association and S.W.A.G.A.
In her later years she looked forward to sorting pennies for the Spokane Guilds’ School Penny Drive.
Verla’s family would like to thank Dr. John Floyd and staff, Keziah and Armando (Care N’Comfort) and Teri Woods, “cribbage friend” for their care and support.
You all made a difference in her life.
We will remember her whistling, her lovely voice, and her smiling blue eyes.
Words cannot express how much she was loved and will be missed.
We were fortunate to have her for 93 years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Spokane Guilds School FDN/Penny Drive or to Zorre Dearborn EWU FDN Scholarship fund.
A memorial service will be held at Audubon Park United Methodist Church, N.3908 Driscoll Blvd.
