WSU Organic Gardening Intensive - Wednesday-May 19. This is a multi-week course in organic gardening, covering everything from composting to garden planning as well as organic pest control and fertilization. Participants will receive 35 hours of instruction from WSU faculty, researchers and area farmers. The classes will be in classrooms, greenhouses on the Pullman campus, and at the WSU Organic Farm. WSU Organic Farm, Tukey Horticultural Orchard at the corner of Airport and Terre View roads, Pullman. $250; $150 if willing to volunteer 20 hours on the farm. (509) 335-5893.

Spokane’s 34th Annual Home and Yard Show - Presented by Jim Custer Enterprises. Featuring displays and demonstrations with home and yard-related products, services and improvements. Soapmaking 101 Workshop - Join Gayle Kruger of Violet Moon Soaps for a two-day workshop on the art of making fine handcrafted soap. Gayle will use organic oils of palm, coconut and olive, along with a variety of essential oils to choose from. Bring an apron and clothes you don’t mind getting oil stains on. Must be 15 or older.
