North Idaho Cardinals whip Salt Lake CC

North Idaho College used a 22-rebound advantage on the boards in taking a 61-54 Scenic West Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Salt Lake CC on Thursday night at Coeur d’Alene and move into a tie for second place at 7-4.

Antoine Hosley scored 13 points, Petar Joksimovic 12 and Keon Lewis 10 as the Cardinals (21-5) never trailed in the victory over the Bruins (20-6).

Michael Middlebrooks led the Cardinals’ dominance on the boards with 15 as NIC held a 57-35 advantage.

Neither team shot well, but NIC’s 42 percent effort easily outclassed Salt Lake, which hit only 26 percent of its field-goal attempts. The Bruins had only 14 points at the half.

Next up for the Cardinals is a SWAC game at home at 5 p.m. Saturday against Snow College.
