Obituary: Ott, George Richard “Dick”


OTT, George Richard “Dick”
(Age 69)

Passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

Dick was born in Pasco and raised in Deer Park where his lifelong love of agriculture was born.

He spent his entire career selling fertilizer first for Inland Farmers (19 years) and later for Greenacres Gypsum (20+ years).

He sure knew a lot of farmers.

Dick graduated from Deer Park High School, attended Spokane Community College and spent four years in the US Army.

He was the kind of person you could always count on, when need arose he was always there.

Dick’s early love of ham radios evolved into a love of computers.

He was active with the Spokane Interstate Fair and AgExpo.

Dick was the President of University SCOPE office.

The Valley has lost a valuable, active and dedicated resident.

Dick also enjoyed doing genealogy.

His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his son Lewis Howell; daughters Cheryl Collins (Ed) and Charlene Guttromson (Jim); brothers Gene (Jo), Sydney and Art (Tammy) Ott; sister Janet Herndon; special friend Dot Burdette; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lou Nettie Ott and son Floyd Andrew Howell.

Memorial service will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church 115 N. Raymond Rd.
