Lewiston girls share title with Coeur d’Alene
The defending champion Lewiston Bengals beat Lake City 48-28 Tuesday night in Lewiston and clinched a share of the Inland Empire League 5A title with Coeur d’Alene.
Although Lewiston (17-3, 5-1) and Coeur d’Alene (16-2, 5-1) tied for first place, the Vikings won a predetermined coin flip and will be the top seed to the 5A Region I Tournament, which starts Friday at Coeur d’Alene.
No. 3 Post Falls (11-8, 2-4) will play No. 2 Lewiston at 5:45 p.m. No. 1 Coeur d’Alene will play No. 4 Lake City (10-10, 0-6).
The tournament will continue the next week with the top two teams earning berths to the state tournament.
4A Region I
Lakeland 52, Sandpoint 41: Cieana Close scored 15 points and Josie Coder added 12 as the second-seeded Hawks (12-9) beat the third-seeded Bulldogs (8-13) in Rathdrum.
Maggie Kirscher scored 15 points for Sandpoint, which trailed 14-5 after the first quarter. Lakeland plays at top-seeded Moscow on Thursday.
Great Northern League
West Valley 57, Cheney 56: Jenae Martin made a pair of free throws with 6.5 seconds left to give the Eagles (5-12, 2-7) a win over the visiting Blackhawks (7-9, 4-4). Martin finished with a game-high 18 points and Aaliyah Ashley-Meek added 12 – eight coming in the fourth – for West Valley. Allie Brown had 13 points and nine rebounds for Cheney.
Deer Park 52, Pullman 38: Danielle Beltram scored 17 points and Kimmie Brazington added 13 as the Stags (11-7, 7-3) beat the host Greyhounds (6-10, 4-5). Pullman was led by Anna Guo’s nine points.
East Valley 60, Medical Lake 37: Erin Wallman and Kendra Morscheck combined for 26 points and the Knights (10-7, 6-3) routed the host Cardinals (1-16, 0-9). East Valley pulled down 24 offensive rebounds. Cassi Jo Nilles scored 11 points and Sabrina Earle added seven points and 11 boards for Medical Lake.
Intermountain League
St. Maries 44, Bonners Ferry 32: Dusti Huddleston had 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Lumberjacks (5-11, 1-5) topped the visiting Badgers (7-11, 3-4). Jayle Sines added five assists and five steals for St. Maries. Jordan Porter scored nine points to lead Bonners Ferry.
Priest River 45, Kellogg 32: Liz Halcro had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as the Spartans (12-5, 6-0) took control in the second quarter and cruised past the visiting Wildcats (8-9, 2-5). Priest River outscored Kellogg 17-6 in the second.
Bi-County 2B League
Northwest Christian 37, St. George’s 11: The Crusaders (15-3, 12-2) locked down and whipped the host Dragons (8-10, 7-7). Chanel Knight scored 10 points for Northwest Christian, which limited St. George’s to just two first-half points.
Colfax 57, Kettle Falls 20: Hannah Harazin led a balanced attack with 10 points as Colfax (11-6, 10-3) put its dominance on display early and eased to a win at Kettle Falls (5-13, 4-10). Colfax outscored Kettle Falls 20-2 in the opening quarter.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 68, Springdale 37: The Broncos (8-9, 5-9) routed the visiting Chargers (4-14, 4-10). Davi Killian scored 19 points and Dalyn Killian and Brooke Pichette each added 10 for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague. Springdale got 13 points from Spring Hamilton.
Bi-County 1B League
Odessa-Harrington 58, St. Michael’s 37: Jessie Whitaker scored 14 points and Kendall Todd added 10 as the Titans (9-11, 6-2) routed the host Warriors (3-12, 0-6). Becky Raynor scored 16 points for St. Michael’s.
Southeast 1B League
St. John-Endicott 46, Garfield-Palouse 38: Gretchen Van Lith scored 12 points to lead the Eagles (10-6, 7-5) past the visiting Vikings (8-7, 5-7). Rachel Gfeller and Emily Jones chipped in eight points apiece for St. John-Endicott. Taylor Redman hit four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points for Garfield-Palouse.
Rosalia 62, Pomeroy 41: Briann Malley scored 22 points and Mackenzie Reddish added 21 as the Spartans (15-3, 10-2) beat the visiting Pirates (4-12, 3-9). Tayler Nelson added 15 points for Rosalia, which forced 26 turnovers. The Pirates got a combined 23 points from Mackenzie Monahan and Torrie Koller.
North Star League
Lakeside 37, Kootenai 32: Kim Duncan-Hall scored 10 points to lead the Knights (6-6, 5-0) to a win over the host Warriors (3-9, 1-3) in Harrison. Brie Benson led Kootenai with 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
Central Washington 2B
Brewster 58, Lake Roosevelt 56: BeckMae Taylor scored 23 points to lead the Bears past the visiting Raiders. Roweena Antone had a team-high 15 points for Lake Roosevelt.
Nonleague
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 51, Davenport 48: Kodi Noggles scored 20 points – two coming on a putback with 26 seconds left to cap the scoring – as the Warriors (16-3) edged the host Gorillas (8-9). Madeline Isaak added 18 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline. Davenport’s Miranda Mielke had 30 points and six steals.
Wilbur-Creston 59, Liberty 40: Brianne Goodlake scored a career-high 16 points and added seven steals as the Wildcats (7-10) beat the visiting Lancers (0-17). Kaelee Reed had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Wilbur-Creston.
