Adele will test pipes at Grammy Awards

From Wire Reports

Sidelined since early October to deal with vocal cord trauma, British singer Adele will return to performing shape at the Feb. 12 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Whether the artist would be cleared to sing after undergoing surgery in November had remained one of the biggest questions heading into the ceremony. Yet the Recording Academy put speculation that Adele would sing on the telecast to bed Tuesday morning, announcing that the singer would perform for the first time in nearly five months on the Grammy stage.

“It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all,” Adele said in a statement.

The singer is the heavy favorite heading into the awards. Her “21” is the No. 1 album in the U.S. and has sold more than 6 million copies.

Nixon’s sexuality now perfectly clear

Actress Cynthia Nixon is trying to clarify earlier remarks about her sexual orientation.

The “Sex and the City” star was criticized last week by gay rights activists when New York Times Magazine quoted Nixon saying that for her, being gay was a conscious choice. After some activists complained that Nixon’s remarks could be used to deny a biological basis for homosexuality, the actress on Monday released a statement to Advocate magazine explaining she is technically bisexual, and not by choice.

Nixon told the magazine: “What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.”

Colbert PAC cracks $1 million

Stephen Colbert ’s “super” PAC has raised a staggering $1 million.

Political action committees were required to submit their financial reports to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday. Colbert disclosed that as of Monday, his Americans for a Better Tomorrow PAC has raised more than $1.02 million.

In a letter to the commission, Colbert was quoted as saying “How you like me now, FEC?”

When Colbert recently flirted with running for president, he legally transferred control of his PAC to Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show.” On Monday’s “The Colbert Report,” he hunted down Stewart to regain his PAC presidency.

Colbert raised the money by asking for donations from his viewers. He hasn’t yet said what he intends to do with it.
