Obituary: Van Gilder, James

VAN GILDER, James “Jim” Passed away on Dec. 8th, 2012 with his wife and daughter by his side in Spokane, WA.

Born to Al and Mildred Van Gilder in Stanley WI, Dec. 29, 1944.

Jim grew up in Deer Park, WA and later moved to Spokane, WA.

Jim served in the Coast Guard from 1965 to 1969 as a Boiler Tender.

Then in the Coast Guard Reserve till 1971.

Jim drove for Greyhound for 28 years, then drove semi for the last 10 years.

Jim loved being on the road, driving big rigs.

Jim’s favorite past time was spent fishing with his wife and dog (Teddy) at Lake Roosevelt and going to the ocean for deep sea fishing, Jim and his wife loved spending time camping, especially at Westport, WA.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years Vicky (McDonald) Van Gilder, one sister, Lillian Ekwall (Rich) of Milliken, CO, one brother, Charles Van Gilder (D’Anne) of Aurora, CO; one son, Shaun Emmingham (Terrah) of Spokane and three daughters, Cheryl Van Gilder of Spokane, D’Arcy Reuterdauhl (Jeff) of Missoula Mt, Darlene Brumley (Jeff) of Sprague WA.

10 grandchildren, one great-grandson, many nieces, nephews and cousins, he will be truly missed by all.

Services will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Dec. 28th at 2:15.
