Martha L.

Martha L. Tschirgi - Anderson passed away August 28, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

She was born in Haines, OR on September 16, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Stella Beard.

Martha and her husband Wendell Tschirgi raised seven children: Mary (Wayne) Pack of Spokane, WA, Ann (Doug) Adams of Portland, OR, Wendy (Tommy) Lang of Lake Alfred, FL, Geralyn (Steve) Bennett of The Dalles, OR, Christine (Bruce) Novotny of Coeur d’Alene, ID, John (Sharon) Tschirgi and Sylvina (Tom) Machtolf all of Spokane, WA.
Mom graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1943 and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital as a registered nurse for many years.

She then returned to school and earned a degree as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CNA).

Mom then worked at Holy Family Hospital and became Chief Anesthetist.

In 1976 she was president of Washington Association of Nurse Anesthetists and was awarded Employee of The Year at Holy Family in 1979-80.

Mom retired in 1982 at the age of 62.

In September 1984 she married Vic Anderson and enjoyed many years of travel.

Mom was an avid bridge player and golfer.

Mom was also a volunteer for Meals On Wheels, Holy Family Hospital, St. Charles Altar Society and St. Charles Prayer Chain.

Mom is preceded in death by all family members but one sister, Terri Grismer.

Martha will be always remembered as a loving mother with an infectious laugh.

Her family will miss her loving friendship and guidance.

Mom’s Catholic Faith was her constant guide and strength throughout her 92 years.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 31 from 12:00 pm till 5:00 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N Division.

Vigil service will be Friday, August 31 at 7:00 pm at St. Charles Catholic Church, 4515 N Alberta.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 1 at 10:00 am at St. Charles.
