McLaughlin for low taxes

The race between Andy Billig and Nancy McLaughlin for state senator representing the 3rd Legislative District is a taxing issue. While I do not live in the 3rd District, any new taxes supported by Billig or McLaughlin would spill beyond district boundaries. Their voting history tells me what I can expect.

Billig’s record shows his support for new taxes. Evidence: He voted for HB 2563, a state tax on capital gains; for HB 2486, a 1 percent income tax on estates and trusts; for HB 1536, a $30 car fee.

Nancy McLaughlin’s voting record shows she is against additional taxes; against the $20 car tab fee, against excessive water rates, for requiring a two-thirds vote to raise taxes.

Please vote for Nancy McLaughlin and help keep everyone’s taxes low.
