Nebeker steps down as Shock president

Spokane Shock team president Adam Nebeker is stepping down to become executive director of Cancer Patient Care. Nebeker is one of three original owners that helped bring arena football to Spokane in 2006. He will remain one of five in the current ownership group, but he won’t be involved in the team’s day-to-day business with his new job. Nebeker’s responsibilities will be absorbed by others in the organization, particularly majority owner Brady Nelson. They’ve known each other since they were 8 years old and they were college roommates at BYU. “It will be a line of work that will be very rewarding on a personal level,” Nebeker said. “It’s been an incredible experience and I’m super proud of everything we’ve done here. These people are like family. It’ll be tough to leave, but I’m excited for the change. “Brady is one of my best friends in the world, he has been and will continue to be. It’s been a blast working with one of my best friends and that’s another reason that makes it hard to step away but that friendship isn’t going anywhere.” Nebeker said it was time for a new challenge. “When Brady and I first started on this road, I never thought it would be this long and I never viewed it as a career move,” he said. “I was hoping to start a team, get it up and running and make it a success. With the success we’ve had, it’s been hard to step away. Every year goes by and it’s successful and fun and it’s been a great experience.”
