A.J. Annelus
(pronounced an-el-US) Cornerback Santa Monica College Grandview High School, Grandview, Mo. 5-11, 190 Coached by Gifford Lineheim As a redshirt freshman at Santa Monica College in 2009, had 40 solo stops and 10 assists in 12 games … also recorded four tackles-for-loss, 12 pass breakups, three interceptions and forced one fumble … as a sophomore in 2010, had 28 solo stops and 11 assists in addition to three tackles-for-loss, four interceptions (one of which was returned 46 yards for a TD), four pass breakups and one forced fumble … is a 2007 graduate of Grandview (Mo.) High School … joined the Vandals in January.
Dion Bass
Cornerback Centennial High School, Corona, Calif. 5-9, 175 Coached by Matt Logan As a senior at Centennial High School (Corona, Calif.), he averaged four tackles per game (totaled 56) in addition to grabbing two interceptions in his first season at cornerback after playing at running back … started on a team that had 39 wins in three years, two CIF championships and one state championship … one of five brothers to play at Centennial … a “shutdown” corner … “I have an aggressive mentality and I have a good nose for the ball. I love to just go 1-1, be on an island with a receiver, and see who comes out on top,” Bass said in an interview in Cali High Sports … his brother Ryan redshirted at Idaho last fall after transferring from Arizona State.

Quarterback Old Dominion/Los Angeles Harbor College/Carson High School, Carson, Calif. 6-5, 250 Coached by Brett Peabody Redshirted at Old Dominion in the fall of 2010 before transferring to Idaho for spring 2011 … initially signed with Washington but attended Los Angeles Harbor in 2009 … at LA Harbor, completed 63 percent of his passes (264 of 417) for 3,711 yards and 35 TDs … averaged 337.4 yards passing per contest and ran the ball into the end zone six times averaging 13.8 yards per game on carries… at Carson High School, led team to an 11-3 overall record and a 5-0 Marine League record as a senior…team made it to the CIF Los Angeles City Section championship game before falling to Birmingham…earned second-team All-City as a senior… named to PrepStar’s “Dream Team” as the nation’s No. 112 overall prospect… the No. 80 recruit in the Far West region by Superprep…rated the No. 70 recruit in California by Scout.com, which also ranked him the No. 58 quarterback in the country…Rivals.com rated him the No. 95 recruit in California and the No. 27 “pro-style” QB in the nation…as a junior, completed 123-of-215 attempts for 1,673 yards and 14 touchdowns…also ran for eight TDs as a junior in 2006…led Colts to a 9-4 overall record and helped them advance to the City Section semifinals as a junior…named second-team All-City as a junior…transferred to Carson from Gardena High prior to his junior year…also played basketball at Carson … joined the Vandals in January.

Defensive end Roosevelt High School, San Antonio, Texas 6-4, 240 Coached by Neal LaHue As a senior, had 79 tackles for an average of 7.2 per game … also averaged 0.5 sacks per game and had one interception … a first-team all-District 26-5A choice and a Class 5A all-state honorable mention honoree … as a junior, was injured but still had 28 total tackles with averages of 3.8 tackles per game and 0.3 sacks per game and earned first team all-District 26-5A … as a sophomore, had 46 tackles and eight passes defensed … averaged 4.2 tackles and 0.3 sacks per game … was Dave Campbell’s fifth-ranked defensive lineman in the state of Texas … defensive captain as a junior and senior … member of the National Honor Society … was third as a junior in the discus in District 26-5A.
Solomon Dixon
Cornerback McKinley High School, Honolulu, Hawai`i 5 -9½, 175 pounds Coached by Bobby Grey 2011 graduate of McKinley High School …One of the top recruits of the Hawai`i class of 2011 … As a senior, earned recognition as the Oahu Interscholastic Association White Offensive Player of the Year, the OIA White first-team utility, the OIA White first-team defensive back and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State utility … as a junior was a second-team all-state player by the Honolulu Star Bulletin and an honorable mention choice of the Honolulu Advertiser … he also was on the 2009 all-Katoosh team, which recognizes the hardest hitters … also competes in track and was the 2009 state 400-meter champion and was third in the state in the 200 meters as a sophomore, and as a junior finished third in the 400 and fifth in the 200.
Ryan Edwards
Defensive tackle Long Beach Poly High School, Long Beach, Calif. 6 -3, 300 Coached by Raul Lara Graduated in 2010 from high school powerhouse Long Beach Poly and attended prep school last fall … currently is enrolled at the University of Idaho … at Long Beach Poly, played on the offensive and defensive lines … was a two-time all-California Interscholastic Federation player as a two-year starter … benches 425, squats 455 and power cleans 315 … joined the Vandals in January.

Todd Handley
Running back King High School, Riverside, Calif. 5-9, 180 Coached by Ken Mushinskie As a senior, carried the ball 185 times for 1,337 yards and 18 TDs … also had 16 receptions for 239 yards, six punt returns for 102 yards and nine kickoff returns for 198 yards … As a junior, carried the ball 177 times for 1,323 yards (average of 7.59 per carry) and caught four passes for 137 yards … also had 16 solo tackles and 36 assists for a total 52 … returned punts (17 for 195) and kickoffs (eight for 239) … Prior to senior season was one of 25 players chosen to the 15th all-Nike Combine Team … 44-inch vertical jump … 4.54 40 … “fastest man” at rivals.com Ultimate 100 Camp … was a first team all-Big VIII selection as a junior and senior … said high school coach Ken Mushinskie in a recent interview: “… he can play a multitude of positions. A.J. Jones
Offensive line Butte College/Chico High School, Chico, Calif. 6-1, 285 Coached by Jeff Jordan Teammate of fellow OL recruit Brady Lisoski … Butte College won the 2010 ASBG Bowl and the 2009 Premier West Bank Bowl … part of a unit that in 2009 enabled Jordan Rogers to set school single-season passing yards and total offense records … team captain.

Tight end Cedarcrest High School, Carnation, Wash. 6 -4, 240 Coached by Jason Frederick Played running back at Duvall High School and helped team to the Washington 2A playoffs … was a first-team all-Cascade Conference running back and earned honorable mention recognition as a defensive end as a senior … carried the ball 137 times for 1,367 yards for an average of 10 yards per carry … scored 19 rushing touchdowns … as a senior was recognized twice by the Seattle Times as the Player of the Week and twice as a Difference Maker … he was an all-state nominee as a senior and a second-team all-area choice by the Everett Herald … was an honorable mention all-conference defensive lineman as a junior as well … also played baseball and had a .483 batting average and a .586 slugging percentage as a junior.

Receiver Las Vegas High School, Las Vegas, Nev. 6-3, 175 Coached by Chris Faircloth As a senior, caught 43 passes for 545 yards and two TDs … considered one of the top skill players coming out of Nevada this year … was injured as a junior but had 16 receptions for 208 yards and two TDs in four games … as a sophomore, he pulled in 59 passes for 742 yards and six TDs for career totals of 1,495 yards on 118 receptions and 10 TDs … said his high school coach, Chris Faircloth in an earlier article, “From our standpoint, he’s a receiver that we can line up at any of the (receiver) positions on the field. … Whether he faces double coverage or not, he always puts us in good shape.” … was on Las Vegas Sun preseason team prior to his junior season and was an all-Sunrise preseason choice of the NevadaPrepReport.com prior to his senior season … he finished his senior season all Northeast League first team.
Cameron McKernan
Running back Kentridge High School, Kent, Wash. 5-11, 205 Coached by Marty Osborn Played running back and linebacker … as a sophomore averaged 8.86 yards on seven carries in addition to averaging 15 receiving yards per game … as a junior, missed part of the season because of injury yet still received honorable mention all-South Puget Sound League recognition … as a senior, a “red chip player” (one of the top 10 in the state of Washington) by the Seattle Times … described as a tough back with speed, size and athleticism … missed 2½ games with ankle injury and wound up second team all-SPSL 4A North … In a game against Thomas Jefferson High School, he tallied 289 yards on 23 carries and scored four TDs.

(pronounced EN-joe-ku) Safety Leander High School, Leander,Texas 6-2, 200 Coached by Steve Gideon As a senior, had 84 solo stops and 33 assists for 117 total in addition to two interceptions, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked punt … 4.5 40 … as a junior, had 78 tackles (57 solo and 21 assists) for an average of 6.5 per game … also had two interceptions, three passes defensed, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and three blocked field goals … was a second team all-District 16-5A selection as a senior and junior … as a sophomore had 12 total tackles in a backup role … as a top 30 defensive back by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football … team captain as a junior and as a senior … Dazzling Dozen Defensive Newcomer of the Year.

Receiver McKay High School, Salem, Ore. 6-2, 190 Coached by Jay Minyard As a senior, a dual threat as a passer and runner with 856 passing yards while completing 60 of 105 passes (.571 percent) with five TD passes in addition to carrying the ball 92 times for 623 yards and 11 TDs (one of which was a 75-yarder) … defensively, had 31 total tackles (27 solo and four assists) in addition to one interception … called the “best athlete in the Central Valley Conference” … second-team Central Valley all-conference quarterback … as a junior at McKay, had 990 yards passing after completing 77 of 140 passes (threw for seven TDs) … also carried the ball 93 times for 638 yards and another seven TDs … was a second-team all-conference choice … also played basketball and was a sprinter on the tack team … started at quarterback as a sophomore and accumulated 957 yards passing and 207 yards rushing.
