Glasses ban short-sighted

I, for one, have always left my old prescription eyeglasses for the Lions to distribute to the less fortunate. Now, the Washington Board of Optometry’s interpretation of federal law prevents residents in need from getting those glasses. We in the United States can send donated eyewear overseas, but we cannot help our own people? I know that there are a lot worse things than not being able to see (for me, none) but what a wonderful thing it is to help someone who just wants to sit and read a book, or a child that can finally see a book about “The Cat in the Hat.”
