Here’s the Dirt: TierPoint’s growth continues with new 15,000-square-foot facility
TierPoint, the Liberty Lake data center company, has opened doors on its third addition, a 15,000-square-foot facility. TierPoint provides corporate customers with secure and environmentally controlled business and network management services.
The new TierPoint 3 project came to $8.5 million, with design by Spokane-based Bernardo Wills Architects; construction general contractor is Mike Silvey.
The locally owned company started with two centers in its main building, at 23403 E. Mission Ave.
About 10,000 square feet in the new addition is for rack space on raised floors. The rest of the building holds conference rooms and break areas, said CEO Octavio Morales.
TierPoint is owned by Morales and Chief Technology Officer Dan Seliger. They took over the interests of co-founders Bernard Daines and Greg Zemp.
TierPoint 3’s first business customer will take about 2,000 square feet in the facility.
Morales and Seliger said the initial customer was eager to take advantage of the center’s green design, which includes using underground aquifer water to cool the inside of the building.
Typical data centers produce a lot of heat, with most traditional cooling systems using chemicals and producing large amounts of discharged waste water.
The TierPoint 3 design, suggested by area businessman Barry Baker, wastes no water and ensures that the water used does not mix with other liquids or chemicals.

Adriano De Souza and Wendy De Souza are co-owners, along with Fabricio Soares, who will be general manager.

Vandervert Construction will be the contractor. Bernardo Wills was the architect.
Completion is expected in October.
New pet resort in Valley
The Coeur d’Alene Pet Resort has opened a second location in Spokane Valley at 11420 E. Jackson Ave.
Co-owner Dawn Kelp said the 10,000-square-foot Paradise Pet Resort can accommodate 100 dogs, the same capacity as the Coeur d’Alene location, at 125 E. Hazel Ave.
Average occupancy in Coeur d’Alene is 75 dogs, she said, but the population was up to 107 last week because of spring break.
The facilities provide overnight and day boarding, exercise areas, training and grooming, Kelp said.
There are seven employees in the 3-year-old Coeur d’Alene location, she said, and two in Spokane Valley.
Rosauers expanding
Rosauers Supermarkets Inc. will build its third Idaho store in Meridian.
The Spokane-based grocer, a subsidiary of URM Stores, will combine a Rosauers Food and Drug and a Huckleberry’s Natural Market in the Gateway Marketplace to be built by Reddy Development.
“We’re excited about expanding our presence in Southern Idaho,” Rosauers President Jeff Philipps said. “The city of Meridian has been incredibly helpful in moving this project toward reality.”
He said construction is expected to start in the fall, with completion the following spring. The store will employ about 120, he said.
Other Rosauers Idaho stores are in Lewiston and Moscow. Its other 18 stores are in Washington, Oregon and Montana.

Dry Fly adding space
Dry Fly Distilling is expanding its current distillery location by about 3,000 square feet. The Spokane distillery will add three fermenters by May 1 to boost production, said co-founder Don Poffenroth.
The expansion will start within three weeks, and cost roughly $30,000. The company makes craft-distilled whiskey, gin and vodka.
Seeger Construction, based in Spokane, is the contractor and designer.
Dry Fly is leasing the building from Spokane owners MGD LLC.
