Suspected rapist captured in Spokane
A suspected rapist is in custody after authorities were alerted to a sexual assault early today in North Spokane.
Details of the attack are sketchy but Spokane police say 29-year-old Christopher Michael Clough has been apprehended in connection with the 1:27 a.m. sexual assault and booked into the county jail on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and first-degree criminal impersonation.
The victim did not know the attacker, police said.
After being advised of the sexual assault, the Spokane Police Department’s patrol division and its sexual assault unit collaborated to find the assailant. Clough emerged as a suspect and was apprehended within 30 minutes, officers said.
