Race not a factor
Prosecution decisions are not based on race. Decisions to prosecute are based on evidence or the lack of it. If and when probable cause is found to exist as to who is responsible for a crime that has been committed, the person or persons responsible for it will be charged.
Mr. Hoisington (Letters, Sept. 3) knows this investigation is ongoing. I cannot and will not comment on the progress or course of the investigation. Investigation is a law enforcement function. The crime lab is overwhelmed, the law enforcement budget is limited, the needs are many and the resources are few.
The fact that one or both parties to any situation is of a particular race or creed has nothing to do with whether or not there is a prosecution. Any suggestion to the contrary is simply nonsense.
