GU pedestrian home from hospital

The Gonzaga University student who was hospitalized after being hit by a minivan Tuesday is back at home recovering. Police initially said her injuries were serious, but the woman, whose name has still not been released, suffered bumps and bruises. “She, as of yesterday, was sore and bruised,” Police spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe said. “She didn’t suffer the serious injuries we initially thought.” The woman, who is in her 20s, was crossing Mission Avenue at Astor Street when she was hit by a Chrysler Voyager minivan that was westbound on Mission. Another car traveling westbound in the right lane of Mission stopped to let her cross. The minivan kept going and hit the woman, who was knocked out of her shoes and landed nearly 70 feet from where she was hit. Police have not issued any citations and are still investigating the accident.
