Explorer Search and Rescue plans open house for youths on Nov. 18
WEST CENTRAL – Spokane County Explorer Search and Rescue will have an open house on Nov. 18 at the Department of Emergency Management, 1121 W. Gardner Ave., from 6:30 to 8 p.m., for area youth to learn about the training and opportunities available to become certified search-and-rescue volunteers.
Explorer Search and Rescue is a program for young adults, ages 14 to 20, that specializes in the search for missing persons within urban and wilderness environments, recovery of the injured, evidence search operations, and providing mutual aid to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

NEVADA/LIDGERWOOD – Volunteers at the Neva-Wood COPS shop, 4707 N. Addison St., will be serving cake and coffee to veterans on Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All veterans are welcome.

CHENEY – Eastern Washington University’s 12th annual Jazz Dialogue Festival will be Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 at EWU and will include middle school, high school and college jazz combos, choirs and bands from across the Northwest.
Approximately 1,000 music students, program directors and guest jazz artists will participate in the festival. They will participate in clinics, ensemble critiques, workshops, open rehearsals and master classes with guest artists during the two-day event.
Public performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Showalter Auditorium on both days.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, 55 and older.
