Hearing set on bus route changes
The Spokane Transit Authority board plans to hold a public hearing at its regular meeting Wednesday evening on changes and reductions in bus service in the Spokane area.
The hearing will be during the 5:30 p.m. meeting in the Spokane City Council Chambers.
An earlier proposal has been modified to postpone any changes in service to Cheney, STA officials said.
Routes 35 and 47, which provide service to park-and-ride lots, would be eliminated. Others would have reductions in frequency or weekend service. Also affected by the changes are routes 2, 20, 23, 27, 29, 33, 44 and 74.
Modifications to a route in the Minnehaha neighborhood to extend service to apartments near Upriver Dam were withdrawn. The plan would achieve 2 percent cost savings.
The board is set to adopt a plan June 16.
