Panhandler solution: Don’t give

The Spokesman-Review

In response to the May 4 column titled “Panhandler’s dubious plea sparks one-man protest,” by Doug Clark, I thought Mr. John C. Fisher had a very interesting approach to combating Spokane’s ever-nagging problem of panhandlers.

The issue is not only limited to the Valley but all over Spokane and has seemed to only be getting worse. I have seen repetitive panhandlers trying to make a quick buck in the same location and time every day. If they are that good about keeping a schedule they should have no problem showing up to a job. What they do only detracts from anyone who really could use the help.

Perhaps, if people stop giving out money, then the panhandlers would be out of business.
