Indicted Pro football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was indicted Wednesday by a suburban New York grand jury on charges of third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute. This follows his May 6 arrest at a Holiday Inn in Ramapo, N.Y., where prosecutors say he paid a 16-year-old girl $300 to have sex with him. Taylor had been charged previously in Ramapo Town Court, but the indictment transfers the case to Rockland County. He is scheduled to appear July 13.
Signed Strong safety Oshiomogho Atogwe wasn’t on the market for long. Three weeks after becoming an unrestricted free agent, the veteran safety went back to his old team, the St. Louis Rams, agreeing on a multiyear deal. Terms were not disclosed, but Atogwe said it was a five-year contract.
•The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms on a one-year contract with quarterback Marc Bulger, pending a physical. Bulger spent the previous nine years of his career with the St. Louis Rams. In 2008, he became the fifth-fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach the 20,000-yard passing milestone, doing so in only 81 games.
Ended Former NASCAR champion Bobby Labonte terminated his contract with TRG Motorsports and quickly landed two part-time rides. Robby Gordon said Labonte will drive his No. 7 Toyota this weekend in New Hampshire and then Phoenix Racing said Labonte will pilot the James Finch-owned car at Daytona and Chicago next month.
Issued Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth issued a statement saying he will report for training camp after staying away from the Redskins all offseason trying to force a trade despite being paid a $21 million bonus in April.
Removed Olympic gold medal figure skater Scott Hamilton had successful surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. Doctors discovered the tumor near Hamilton’s pituitary gland in 2004. He underwent a successful procedure to have the tumor shrunk, but it grew back and forced him to have the surgery to remove it. Hamilton, a four-time world champion, highlighted his career by winning the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo.
