Jail comes with big charge
We are told that Spokane County needs a new jail to the tune of millions of dollars.
Perhaps a new jail could be built for a fraction of the predicted cost. And a facility that a majority of citizens would agree on. The one cost that might be a bit high would be the monthly payment to Avista for a 10-foot-high fence, topped with razor wire, and the entire fence would be charged with 10,000 volts. That’s to keep prisoners in and the lawyers out.
Plenty of acreage is available west of Spokane in the sagebrush area, which has an abundance of meat. Rattlesnakes and jackrabbits. Plenty of room for the prisoners to plant veggies.
The sheriff wants a “horizontal design” facility. Tents can be erected from here to hell and back, no problem.
Just a thought from a concerned citizen trying to save the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
