Vikings win tourney title
Carli Rosenthal tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, earning tournament Most Valuable Player honors, as Coeur d’Alene came from behind in the fourth quarter to knock off Federal Way (7-1) 70-69 in the championship game of the North Idaho Holiday Inn Classic Thursday in Coeur d’Alene.
The Vikings trailed by four at the end of the third quarter, but scored 25 points in the fourth to earn the win. Kyeli Parker scored a game-high 22 points for the Vikings and was also named to the all-tournament team along with Lake City’s Sydney Butler.
Chiawana 55, Lewiston 40: Haley Hodgins finished with a game-high 16 points and the Riverhawks (5-2) handed the Bengals (8-2) their second consecutive loss – after the Bengals had started the season 8-0 – in the third place game of the North Idaho Holiday Inn Classic.
SunDome Shootout
Colville 38, Vashon Island 28: Ashley Knight had 12 points to lead the Indians (8-0) to a win over the Pirates (6-3) in Yakima. The Indians scored just four points in the opening quarter, but used a 20-point second period to build a seven-point lead they didn’t relinquish.
Deer Park 47, Burbank 30: Alison Ruygrok finished with 20 points, Tessa Heins added 10 and the Stags (4-4) outscored the Coyotes (3-7) 26-15 in the second half to pull away for the win. Julie Mosqueda had 11 for the Coyotes.
Woodland 51, Riverside 28: Hannah Ingraham tied the game-high with 17 points and the Beavers (6-1) used an 18-3 edge in the fourth quarter to put the Rams (3-6) away. The Rams were led by 17 points from Courtney Davis, but they could not overcome a 15-point halftime deficit.
Lakeside 38, Connell 37: Lexie Zappone had 12 points and hit a free throw with less than 1 second remaining in regulation to lift the Eagles (6-3) to a win over Connell (5-2).
Rosalia Classic
Medical Lake 55, Liberty 39: Amelia Cook finished with 26 points and five assists and the Cardinals (3-4) dumped the Lancers (2-5) in the opening round of the Rosalia Classic. Katra Browning led the Lancers with 15 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.
Rosalia 48, Asotin 39 (2OT): Briann Maley had 17 points and seven rebounds and the Spartans (7-2) blanked the Panthers 9-0 in the second overtime to win their tourney opener. Rosalia plays Medical Lake today in the championship game.
Reardan Tournament
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 63, Reardan 60: Madeline Isaak scored a game-high 25 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final two minutes of regulation to help the Warriors (8-1) secure a win over the Indians (7-2) in the championship game. ACH held the Indians to two points in the first quarter and Reardan couldn’t recover. Kelsey Moos led the Indians in scoring with 18 points.
Wellpinit 58, Chewelah 41: The Redskins (5-4) knocked off the Cougars (3-7) in the consolation game. No other information was available.
Nonleague
North Central 60, Cheney 32: Hailey Markham-Patti scored a game-high 17 points and Riley Holsinger added 15 as the Indians coasted past the host Blackhawks (4-3). The Indians (4-4) led by 10 at the end of the third quarter and outscored Cheney 26-8 in the fourth period to come away with the victory.
St. John-Endicott 50, Davenport 39: Gretchen Van Lith and Michal Schuster combined for 17 points and the visiting Eagles (7-0) used a balanced scoring attack to knock off the Gorillas (1-5). The Gorillas’ Miranda Mielke led all scorers with 19 points and added six assists and eight steals.
