Time to arrest spending
I see where Kootenai County Sheriff Rocky Watson wants to sue the hand that feeds him, (“Sheriff seeks funds for lawsuit,” Aug. 15) because he is not receiving more than his fair share of the taxpayer pie. And he wants us taxpayers to pay for it.
I have news for Rocky: We taxpayers are fed up with his arrogance concerning the use of our money.
Every day I see several of his deputies driving a brand-new SUV or pickup, which he takes home and parks in his driveway for more than 80 percent of the time. Every deputy does not need his own personal cruiser. If he lives in town he can drive to the fancy sheriff’s office and pick up the cruiser that just came off shift.
I can see where the man in Rose Lake is justified having his own car. If I were in charge of the sheriff’s budget it would be slashed by $100,000s and should be. It is time that Watson showed some fiscal restraint with the money so easily taken from us taxpayers and wastefully spent by him.
