Small fire contained near Indian Painted Rocks

Washington Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 9 firefighters have contained a small brush fire near Riverside State Park. The fire on West Rutter Parkway, near the Indian Painted Rocks, amounted to about three quarters of an acre, a DNR spokesman said. The spokesman said at this time they do not believe the fire occurred inside of park boundaries, and they expect to have the fire out within the next couple hours. There were no injuries, and the cause is under investigation.
