In brief: Art gallery plans artist reception

NORDMAN – The Entree Gallery at Coolin Bay, 1755 Reeder Bay Road, will celebrate the 85th birthday of local artist Betti Jemison with a reception today, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Jemison was raised in Southern Idaho. She studied art at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and continued her art education, studying with several nationally renowned artists, as well as taking an art history course in Italy. Her work has been exhibited in major regional and national shows.

Her works, including scenic watercolors, oils and studies of children, will be on display. Her featured show, “Timeless Treasures” will run today through Aug. 31.

HAYDEN – The Kootenai County Farmers Market will hold its seventh annual “Feast with the Farmers” Aug. 10, from 6:30 p.m. until dark at the Hayden Market at the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue.

The event will include live music by Brian Crain and dinner prepared by Coeur d’Alene Resort’s head chef Rod Jessick and Beverly’s chef Tyler Schwenk. The menu includes stuffed leg of lamb, salmon pasta or vegetarian strudel, beet and goat cheese salad, fresh artisan bread and a fresh fruit tart.

Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased at the Wednesday market in downtown Coeur d’Alene on Fifth Street, between Sherman Avenue and Front Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m., and at the Saturday Market in Hayden from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
