New faces

Washington State University has hired Teresa Cardon as an assistant professor for the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences based at the Spokane campus. Cardon previously served as a faculty research associate in the Infant Child Research Programs at Arizona State University and as director of speech-language pathology at the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center in Phoenix. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communicative disorders from California State University, Fullerton, and a doctoral degree in speech and hearing science from Arizona State University.

Nick Lawhead has been hired as a project manager for 14Four interactive agency. He previously worked as an account executive for Desautel Hege Communications for more than three years and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Washington University.

Global Credit Union has hired Allan Main as a mortgage loan officer for the company’s Spokane Home Loan Center. He previously worked for US Bank as a senior loan officer and has 25 years of related experience.

John Swanson has been hired as senior vice president and manager of Umpqua Bank’s Northwest Investment Real Estate Group in Washington. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University and has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate. He previously served as senior vice president and Seattle market manager for US Bank Commercial Real Estate.

Northwest Farm Credit Services in Spokane has hired Anthony Buergel as director of taxation and reporting. He previously worked for ASC Machine Tools as a controller. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Gonzaga University and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Washington.

Charity Smith has been hired as an accounting clerk for Global Credit Union. She previously worked as a billing specialist for Advantage IQ and has eight years of related experience. The company also hired Carlene Connelly as a payroll/accounts payable clerk for the company’s accounting department. She previously worked in payroll and accounts payable for Accountemps and has 30 years of relevant experience.

Austin Storhaug has been hired as a civil engineer for Storhaug Engineering, Inc. He previously interned for the company and holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington State University.

US Bank has hired Terry Neal as vice president and relationship manager for the company’s Spokane commercial real estate group. He has 25 years of commercial real estate experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Eastern Washington University.

Red Lion Hotels Corp. has hired Pam Scott as director of corporate communications. She previously served as communications manager for the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau for the past five years.

Klundt Hosmer received a Best Annual Report award from the Seattle Chapter of National Investor Relations Institute in the micro/small-cap companies category for its work with Avista. The design and communications firm also received a first place award in the annual report category, Group B during the 2010 Utility Communicators International Better Communication Awards.

The Washington Department of Ecology presented Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Plant awards to Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District No. 1 and Mayor Mary Verner for Spokane’s Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility.

NAC Architecture has been ranked 63rd on Architect magazine’s list of the top 100 architecture firms in the U.S. for 2009.

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization presented Murray Huppin, CEO of Huppins Hi-Fi and Deputy Sheriff Sergeant John Simbler of Geiger Corrections with “My Boss is a Patriot” awards.
