Out-of-gas robbery suspects nabbed in water park
Two robbery suspects were found hiding in a Spokane Valley water park today after police say their getaway truck ran out of gas.
The suspects, 25-year-old Joseph W. Boyce, aka Joseph Davis, and Jumah A. Robinson, 32, are accused of robbing a 29-year-old Spokane woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Albertson’s Grocery at Trent and Argonne this morning.
The woman thought she was to give the men, who police say she met “a short time ago,” a ride, but the men stole her purse and backpack instead before they left in a white Chevy truck, police said.
The woman, who wasn’t injured, gave police the truck’s license plate, and they found the vehicle parked along eastbound Interstate 90 near Splash Down Water Park.
Deputies, Washington State Patrol troopers and officers from Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake surrounded the park about 7:30 a.m., and a K-9 tracked one suspect under a deck. The second suspect was found hiding in a slide tube, police said.
Boyce and Robinson were booked into jail on one count of first-degree robbery. Police were preparing to search the truck this morning.
