Beastly news for Swayze

“The Beast,” a police drama that starred the ailing Patrick Swayze, will not return for a second season.

The A&E series, which premiered in January, starred Swayze as Charles Barker, a rogue undercover FBI agent.

Reviews were mixed and the audience averaged 1.3 million viewers through the 13 episodes, which concluded their run in April.

But Swayze was unstinting in a rough-and-tumble performance that he maintained while battling pancreatic cancer.

Network President Bob DeBitetto called his performance “an inspiration to us all.”

Known for such films as “Ghost” and “Dirty Dancing,” the 56-year-old Swayze went public with his diagnosis in 2008.

A memoir by him and Lisa Niemi, his wife of more 30 years, is set for publication in the fall.

More Joy to the world

Joy Behar has too much to say for just one hour a day, so the veteran co-host of ABC’s “The View” plans to double up with her own show on HLN.

The cable network, formerly known as Headline News, says “The Joy Behar Show,” a talk-and-interview hour, will air nightly at 6 p.m. starting this fall.

Behar will continue on “The View,” where she’s been a fixture since that program began in 1997.

A bit too much Bruno

Sacha Baron Cohen strips down as his alter ego, Austrian fashionista Bruno, for the July cover of GQ magazine.

According to the magazine, Bruno is the first subject to appear fully naked on the cover. Jennifer Aniston, wearing a necktie and nothing else for the January issue, came close.

“Bruno” is scheduled for release July 10.
