Politicians’ priorities scrambled
Cal Thomas’ recent (July 14) column on the timidity of this administration doesn’t go far enough. It’s more like the stupidity of Obambi and his weak-kneed Democratic cohorts in Congress regarding our international and national affairs.
These simpletons in the other Washington coddle dictators in China, Russia, Iran, Korea and Latin America, yet fail to support pro-democracy demonstrators or jailed American journalists. They shackle aggressive, proactive policies of our military and CIA, while al-Qaida continues to bomb civilians and soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. They support empty U.N. resolutions, yet threaten prosecution of former U.S. government officials.
How does a climbing national debt into the trillions of dollars based on government intrusion into health care, banking and auto industries sound to Americans whose prosperity was based on a free-market, capitalist system with rewards earned and not based on self-proclaimed entitlement? Environmental, feel-good economic policies? Forget about it. I’m more concerned about the value of the U.S. dollar.
Almost worse than these misguided Democrats is the supposed Republican line-up planning to take us back to the Promised Land. Surely we can do better than politicians hiking in Alaska or Appalachia.
Where are our real leaders?
