Jacksons should foot bill

The Spokesman-Review

“Focus on troops” by Thomas McGarry on July 5 was a well- written letter. He is right on the money that Michael Jackson was just an entertainer and too much print space has been spent on him. And not enough print spent on the people who are defending our country’s freedom.

Also, the city of Los Angeles is asking the general public to donate money to help with the cost of Jackson’s memorial service.

What’s wrong with this picture? When my father, mother and an aunt passed away, I paid the total cost out of my pocket. It seems to me that the Jackson family are not destitute. They should reimburse the city of Los Angeles for the cost of the memorial and for once in their lives show some responsibility. This was something the Jackson family owed the public.
