Images come from within

Ms. Marcia Tiffany (“Bush photo showed bias,” Letters Jan. 17) is concerned that a recent front-page photograph showed media bias: Bush’s hangdog image.

Bush and his supporters should have started to worry about his image much earlier and done something about it, say, when he started an illegal war on false pretenses, ordered illegal wiretapping of the population, palled around with dictators from states of the former Soviet Union in exchange for intelligence information, ordered torture and rendering, hired out torture to foreign countries, sent innocent people to black holes who now cannot go back home to their native countries for fear of more torture, bullied European allies and alienated most of the planet.

As far as Barack Obama’s image goes, his smile does him little good if he won’t prosecute Bush for war crimes. And Obama and Rahm Emanuel must shelve their “mandatory civil service plan” which is nothing but a military training camp for people from 18 to 25 to prepare them for war. It sounds like militarization of the population, draft in disguise, using “fear,” like his predecessor, to make people fall in line.
