Spokane fly tier Carolyn Sells is teaming up with Lewiston fur-and-feather guru LeRoy Hyatt for another season of instructional programs on public television starting Saturday.

Fly Tying: The Angler’s Art returns to KWSU-TV (channel 10/Spokane Cable 18) with a new twist – High Definition, and enough detail to see every hair and peacock herl on the pair’s tiny works of art.

The program is scheduled to run Saturdays at 5:30 p.m., repeating Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

Hyatt and Sells bring decades of fly tying and teaching experience to the program, and they spin some good fly-fishing stories between them, too.

Most important, they lace the show with useful tips on technique and materials, along with discussions on fish psychology and the conditions where each fly works best.

In each episode, they demonstrate tying three or four fly patterns, including dry and wet flies, droppers and steelhead offerings.

You’ll see some favorites, possibly in a version “improved” with new materials. Hyatt and Sells also keep their radar up for new patterns in their regional and cross-country fishing travels.

The informative relates to all levels of fly fishing experience.
