S-R departures hard to watch

It’s very saddening to learn that the Review is losing three distinguished journalists, Bill Morlin, Karen Dorn Steele and Dan Webster.

Morlin and Dorn Steele especially will be sorely missed. Both have been very effective watchdogs, fulfilling the role for which newspapers are uniquely qualified. Their investigative pieces have been directly responsible for a more honest and responsive local government.

As well, Webster has been very effective as an entertainment critic.

It’s a sad reflection upon society when people no longer read or care about what goes on around them enough to support their local news source, the newspaper, resulting in cutbacks such as these. I sincerely hope that their replacements, if any are to be found, can do nearly so well. They will be missed. Godspeed to all three.
